UAA has significant amount of annual expenses. We spend money for our
activities, brochures, mail boxes, meetings, seminars and conference etc.
We are operating a web page which costs 20 $ a month. (<A

Even though Board of Directors are trying to save every penny by paying for
most of the telephone calls and transportation themselves, UAA annual
expenses still comes to around $ 3000.
Since the second Uyghur Congress in May 2000, we have not collected donation
from any sources. UAA account has no money left. Actually, we are running
UAA on borrowed money. If you need the detailed expense report, you may
send
a request to UAA treasurer Ilyar Semsedin.
UAA board of directors ask you to donate to UAA:
$ 100 for double income families,
$ 60 for single income families or singles.
We will appreciate additional donations from members and friends.
UAA will acknowledge and provide a receipt for your donation for the tax
purposes.
Please make out the check payable to "UAA" (use only the abreviation
form
"UAA, not the full name "Uyghur American Association")
Send you check to:

Uyghur Human Rights Coalition's activities have been requiring money.
Photocopies of our materials are costly and we have been distributing a lot of
copies at our university presentations and our demonstrations. In
addition, our demonstrations have required money for microphone rental, as well
as posterboard to make signs. In order for the UHRC to continue its
activity, we really need funds. We are planning some fundraising events on
our own but they won't happen for another month or so. Please consider
making a small donation to our organization so that we can continue to defend
the human rights of Uyghur people. Any amount would be greatly, greatly
appreciated. We became incorporated at the end of August as an educational
organization, but unfortunately we do not yet have the
non-profit tax-exempt status. The tax lawyer who is helping us out is
working on it but the process won't be completed until the beginning of next
year. Therefore, it is my duty to make it clear that unfortunately, you
will not be able to deduct donations to the UHRC on your 2000 tax return.
We hope that you might consider making a donation anyway. Thank you very
much.
Peace and happiness,
Kathy
