I just wanted to let you know that the Uyghur Human Rights Coalition's Executive Board decided at its meeting last week to change the UHRC's strategy for next semester.  Rather than continuing to do ONE presentation at MANY universities, we have chosen six "FOCUS" schools to BOMBARD with Uyghur human rights activities.  Those six schools will be: American University (DC), George Washington University (DC), University of Maryland-College Park (MD), Stanford University (CA), UC-Berkeley (CA), and University of Washington (WA).  We already have students at four of these six schools who are interested in starting UHRC student chapters (as a result of our presentations this semester) and we really want to focus our energy on working with those students to establish these chapters, get lots of members, and organize activities on campus to educate more students and motivate them to action.  We realized that having ONE presentation at MANY schools wasn't going to be very effective in building an active student movement for the Uyghurs.  We need to focus our energy and have decided instead to BOMBARD a FEW schools (the six listed above) with Uyghur human rights activities and build active student movements on those campuses.  We expect that after we get active student movements going at those six schools, there will be a "domino" effect and students at other schools will hear about it and also want to start chapters.  We just need to focus on a few schools to get the momentum going.  So next semester, we will be organizing activities at each of these schools at least every other week, including having Uyghur human rights presentations, tabling information at the university campus centers, organizing political action nights at the campus cafes, hanging up Uyghur human rights fact sheets around campus, and holding Uyghur culture events.  We have put two UHRC members in charge of each of the six universities.
